Not that I spend all my time online, but I have had a Second Life account since I heard about it a year ago. I was reminded of it when a friend sent me a link to a short video (1 of 7 I think) made in in Second Life. It’s an arty but well made piece, about the experiences and musings of one Molotov Alva who engages in Second Life as an alternative to his own. The real life Molotov has an incomprehensible web site about something called The Circuit books. Is this a pseudo fiction or something that really exists? Or maybe the question is the point. I couldn’t decipher it, can you?

That’s me on the left
with the strange boobs.

Whatever you think of Second Life, and my jury is still out, it does lend itself to creative film making, and I wouldn’t rule out using it for some experimentation myself at some stage. I logged in this evening, only to bump into an old friend who started SL at the same time as me. Not only has he acquired a slave (with full consent of his real life partner) but when his real life business went down the pan, he started designing clothes (mostly lingerie) in Second Life as a full time occupation. He makes about 80 USD a month from his shop, and although financially supported by his real life partner, he hopes to make his business viable. His mentor in Second Life makes 1000 USD a day.
