That’s me that is, a “drug addled gypsy”.. or it was what I was accused of being on my merry way home the other night. I wasn’t even that drunk.. or wearing particularly shit clothes. Very odd, and the scathing accusor (early 40’s.. unremarkable man) was so convinced, he growled it at me twice.
That was followed by a similar incident when a barmaid asked me out of the blue what job I did. I asked her why (perhaps innocently thinking she might have mistaken me for someone else) and she explained
“My friend has bet me 50 quid that you’re in the Army. Are you?”
“No” says I, “I work for a video games company”
“Great! I knew you wouldn’t be in the Army. So what exactly do you do at work?”
“I’m a video editor”
“Ooo” squeeks barwench as she turn away “Look at you!”
Which I thought wasn’t really fair, as I was only being obliging answering her question anyway. I didn’t really want to, and somehow I came out of the deal feeling crap. Bloody hell. So, the army jacket has been returned to the wardrobe. Everyone wears cammo.. what’s it with me that gets me labled most likely to be firing guns on the weekend, or alternately, oh I don’t know, robbing people and begging on the tube?
So, in other news, geek stuff I have to get out of the way.. the lovely Drupal CMS has gone version 5 - yay and all that, and it’s admin is tidier than it was although would likely still scare new users.
I am changing the world a little bit at a time with some volunteer web admin using Drupal CMS, for a group of, well.. you can check it out if you like… they should have some photos up soon. The Homeless Front UK and my old friend Jack, who strangely has a wikipedia page, but I reckon his mum wrote it.
Also have just got back from a lovely trip to Brighton with my friend Dale who had his 30th there. Saw the inimitable Hairy Jedi too, and we bought him a cool jacket with reflective bits! Also, snow fell in London this week.. it was short but exciting. I did a proper double take that morning when I saw my snowy garden. It made me laugh out loud as I had thought that double takes weren’t real, that they were a dramatic device, or purely for comedy… Anyway, it’s too late to ramble on, so here’s the snow.
