Hello. Today I tried to import footage from the very lovely HVX200E Panasonic HD camera into my Mac FCP “HD”. So I got as far as copying to HD the data from the nifty P2 solid state cards, only for FCP to complain:

“One or more clips fail to import; probable incomplete or corrupt clips.”

Despite having an option called Import… Panasonic P2, it will only import if your footage is shot in 1080 25P. That is one of all these possible HD configurations for the camera:

1080i 50i
1080i 25P
720P 50P
720P 25P
720P 25N

I am a little aggrieved. My leap into HD has been postoned. Dammit. So, I feel that one more post that points this out on the internet can not be a bad thing. Anyway - some details from the uber video geeks at Creative Cow. (I am too scared to post there, those guys would eat me up in my newbie-ness.).

Also found an app called P2 Log which can convert the footage for import as .mov, but that has done little to appease me. If you are an uber video geek with better ideas for importing my 720p50 drop me a line.
