Stayed in last night and was strangely rewarded by a movie on SBS called Wild Zero. It was a Japanese film which combined zombies, UFO’s, Yakuza, big guns, teenage angst and masses of action. Our hero was one Guitar Wolf, a Rayban wearing rock and roller whose guitar never left his side throughout the film.

Rock ’n’ Roll is NOT over, baby

Classic scenes included Guitar Wolf being blown out of a warehouse loft by a crazed buisinessman with a bazooka, only to land neatly in a crouching positon, executing a power chord.. also the loved up teens who, as Zombies, seek each other out across the streets, only to find one another and enjoy a clumsy zombie snog. The final action scene has Guitar Wolf on top of a building beneath a soaring UFO mother ship (a la Independance day) and drawing a sword from the headstock of his guitar, the blade hidden inside the fretboard, slices through the belly of the spaceship gliding over him.

Guitar Wolf destroys the alien ship!

Fantastic stuff! See it!
