I like the city, Sydney is a fun place to work, not as fast paced as London but hardly slow or uninteresting. I had discovered the coolest take away food joint which sells luscious salad sandwiches for little more than a pound (includung beetroot, everything in Australia comes with beetroot, they don’t tell you that in the ads with the kangaroos but it’s true I swear). It’s like at home, cheap bacon butties and bargain coffees. Anyway, twice I’ve had errr, “reactions” to foodstuffs that crippled me up to the early hours of the morning, with the only parrallel being lunch at my favourite take away. I’ve decided that to avoid the particular cafe for the time being.

At lunch today I sat down by circular quay, looking out onto the harbour. I watched small children picking up pigeons by throwing down large piles of breadcrumbs, and then running around with them trapped under their arms. One small girl kept stopping to give the poor bird big, squishing bear-hugs of love, I’m suprised it didn’t die of fright.

So anyway, being as I am 50% of my company, it gets a bit lonely. The “internal dialogue” is deafening by 6pm so I think I ought to use this diary a little more often.. if only to spew all the rubbish that accumulates in my brain after a whole day on my own. I had a private giggle to myself (that is happening more and more incidentally) when I was storming back to work, with my Liverpool Street pace, and found myself striding in time with a random suited man, who was obviously feeling more than a little uncomfortable about it. Therefore I made an extra effort to match his pace, and to keep the grin of my face. Ha. I should get out more.
